"The gospel is free, but the cost of following Jesus is very high." ~ Afghan Christian to Voice of the Martyrs Our commission to spread the gospel of Christ is no less challenging today than it was 2,000 years ago. Despite violence or even death, missionaries passionately share the love of Christ around the globe. It is easy to assume only full-time missionaries are charged with Christ's command found in Matthew 28. Prayer, witnessing, and financing are roles we all play in mission work. The question is not 'if' it is 'what' part do I play?
Technology has brought the world closer over the centuries. Here at MMCW our mission field is the internet. Since January our website has logged visits from over 60 countries including nations where being a Christian will cost believers their life.
In the United States, religious freedom is often taken for granted. It is hard for us to imagine the difficulties mission workers and new converts face. Their testimony should keep us alert and supportive. Our diligence must be prayer, continually educating ourselves and others, financing of the gospel, and to "not grow weary in well doing." Millions upon millions have yet to hear the name Jesus Christ.
This month's issue looks at mission work from various perspectives. Check out the fabulous articles, videos, and podcasts throughout the site to educate yourself on global mission work. And, to those missionary wives and new converts (some in regions hostile to the gospel) we are praying for you. Blessings, Kellie
Kellie Renfroe Editor-In-ChiefMentoringMoments@aol.com Mentoringmoments.org FYI* Tibet, in the news for the violence between Buddhist monks and the communist Chinese government, is an area under strong demonic influence. While there are 5 million Tibetian Buddhists, the area is only .2% Christian. Christians in Tibet suffer persecution at the hands of Tibetian monks. Many are calling for a boycott of the Bejing Olympics this summer. We must be in prayer that the door into China is not hindered by Buddhist and Communists. The Chinese government is said to have millions upon millions of Christians imprisoned for their faith. Bibles are scarce and must bear the mark of the government printing press. It is said that the wait for a Bible in China is 20 years due to the rapid growth of Christianity. Despite government persecution, China is the fastest growing Christian population in the world. Pray for the underground church and missionaries in China and Tibet.

"Do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel." ~ 2 Timothy 1:8-10 |

Commitment: A Pledge to Do Stephanie Little Almost every Sunday my church recognizes couples who have been married for 50 years or more. After watching a poignant video of one elderly couple, I kept thinking, "Could my husband love me like that? Is his commitment to me that strong?" Then, I heard it, the still small voice of the Lord, "Could I love my husband like this man loved his wife? Is my commitment to him that strong?" Commitment: 'A Pledge to Do'
